This site finds itself on the side of a hill overlooking the Blackmore Vale, a valley of farmland. This backdrop and more specifically the vision of the undulating land dressed with the early morning mist is the inspiration behind this design.
The landscape has a great sculptural quality with the trees and hedgerows taking on silhouetted form amid blankets of mist and it is this sculptural and organic form that the design seeks to emulate. The surrounding fields are also protected as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to a diverse flora of rare wildflowers and grasses.
While the design provides for a couple who enjoy entertaining, there is also a diversity of spaces for their young children to explore and amuse themselves.
The overall effect of the design is a clean, contemporary but organic feel about the space. And while ensuring that the garden bears a strong connection to its setting both in physical appearance and planting choice this serves to retain and expand on the already beautiful outlook and atmosphere that this site possesses.
